Arthur runs both hands over his face, careful to avoid catching one of his rings on his lip ring. A part of him finds this almost impossible to believe yet at the same time, it's almost obvious. Leave it to the Italian to be able to read minds. Almost like that one time Kiku found those binoculars and...

The Briton didn't answer, his cheeks just darkening in colour until they matched the blood red shade on his Union Jack trainers. He was praying his mind was staying far away from the incident. He prayed the flashback wasn't coming and he prayed that that... that... American buffoon wasn't completely (audible? visible?) to the Italian.

Matthew looked around, but, seeing as they were in the hallway, there would obviously be no desks to put the books onto. He set the heavy books on the floor with a (loud) thud and sighed. "Maybe I'll take a quick break."

(LOL, British people talk like any other person would. XD In British English, some words/phrases are different - "jelly" > "jam", "soda/pop/etc" > "soft drinks".)

Matthew picks up the remaining books and walks alongside the Briton. "Eh, I've been better. You?"
Matthew was not one to complain (verbally), but he'd been feeling sluggish all day.

With his brother's birthday, and also his own, not too far away, he let America incessantly chatter about birthday presents, cake etc.
"Oh right, I have to get THAT..." Matthew whispered to himself.

The second part catches him a little by surprise, "What was that?"
Arthur had purposefully shut out the fact it was Alfred's birthday in less than a month from his mind. Personally, he wasn't in the mood to listen to how, yes, the America had beat Britain... Again.
